When Lila found an old snow globe tucked behind a stack of books, she didn’t expect it to open. But the moment she lifted it, a swirl of sugar-soft snow wrapped around her—and she fell straight into a glowing winter wonderland.

The air smelled like heliotrope, warm ginger, praline, and marshmallow, as if the snow itself had been dusted in candy. Trees dripped with candied apples and sweet cream flowers, and a gentle breeze carried hints of nectarine and jasmine. Every step sent up sparkles that smelled like nutmeg and soft coconut snow.

At the center of it all, a lantern carved from sandalwood lit up the world in a warm haze of vanilla, tonka bean, and musk. That’s when she realized:
